I loved Peanuts when I was a kid but now in midlife, I find it depressing. Charlie was depressing. He was a naïve confused kid who often went about his days credulous, gloomy, and dejected. By contrast, Calvin, from Calvin and Hobbes, had a wide range of emotions -good and bad. Calvin was very funny and deeply philosophical. As a kind, I could not see Charlie for who he really was: a very sad boy who was easily manipulated by Lucy. Looking back, I see nothing redeeming about Charlie and I suppose what attracted me to him when I was a kid was his friends and Linus was the one I identified with the most.

Apparently, with that kind of plane, you *can* edge someone down to the ground, in a dogfight. It's difficult, and calls for a *really* good command of the plane (and of human psychology, if your opponent isn't compliant). This was one of the Red Baron's signature moves. Kudos for someone doing their homework, eh?
